Chapter One
I've been doing this since I needed a chair to reach the counter
I'm Meg. My last name is Book. You can see where this is going.

I taught myself to bake as a kid. My parents divorced when I was four and my mom worked all the time, so I was on my own a lot, and recipes are really just instructions. It stuck. I've been baking ever since, for coworkers, for friends, for whoever was around. And when someone takes that first bite and makes *that* face, the one where it was better than they expected, that's what makes this all worth it.
What I love about it is that baking is a science. You change one thing in a recipe and it makes a big difference, and getting to experiment with that never stops being interesting. And because of that, I love a challenge; there is nothing that I can't make, see if you can challenge me with your custom order!
The moment I started taking it seriously was when a coworker tried something I'd brought in and asked if I did birthday cakes for kids. That was the first time I thought maybe strangers would pay for this.
I turned 40, quit my very sensible job, moved to Palisade and am taking a chance on this next chapter. Tell me if you can relate! I'd just like you to feel like you're buying baked goods from a friend.
Why Palisade
I fell in love with the small town and strong community feel that Palisade gives, and it felt natural and right for this next chapter to begin in this beautiful town surrounded by mesas, peaches and friendly locals! So I packed up, moved to a farm, and hope to make delicious treats for my new neighbors.
